Why was MGCP developed when we already had H.323 & SIP?
I can understand that H.323 has complex debug messages and its tough to debug failures, SIP resolved that issue by having simple text message/response and had better services implemented on SIP stack.
But the question is what was the need of development of MGCP stack when H.323 & SIP were dominant in market, how does it makes VoIP network different and better for end user & is it better than H.323 & SIP network??
Any pros & cons will be appreciated..
Its not a assignment question so pointers and subjective replies will do good.

Thanks in advance

For example - is a store manager needs to call corp or check voice mail it goes across the IP network, but if the manager places a call that is local it does not route across to corp to place the call - it grabs the POTS line @ store and places the call.

Net Telephone

During the past decade, we have seen that the web and PC technology have changed the way folk live, work and communicate. A Net telephone is one such revolution that's changed the way folk talk with one another.

Most VoIP plans provide you with unlimited local and non-local calling in the US, Canada and Puerto Rico for rather less than $25 a month.

If you are a snowbird, net telephone service might be the ideal thing for you. Many individuals live in cooler climates in the summertime, and migrate to their warm southern winter houses when the weather turns cold. Because VoIP ( voice over net custom, aka..Internet Telephone Service ) depends on a broadband net connection and needs only a little device commonly known as a VoIP adapter - web phone service is very cartable. A mobile phone is a great cure for this, apart from 'out of state-ers' who need to make an international call to chat with you. If you are using broadband web service anyhow ( which is simply turned 'off' when you have moved away for the season ), it makes good sense to sign up to net telephone service and always have a local telephone number whichever home you are living in. Net telephone service depends on a broadband internet connection to route calls around the globe Wide Web, to anyplace globally. Although costs differ among VoIP service suppliers, you should be expecting to pay $20 - $40 a month for net telephone service, and this sometimes includes unlimited local and long-distance calls! Most VoIP suppliers also chuck in tons of free phone features too - like caller ID, call waiting, voicemail and call forwarding - solely to name a couple.

If you want to save a ton of cash on telephone service, think about using a VoIP supplier that offers a limitless yearly plan. For instance, your ma lives in Auckland and you are traveling to Melbourne. You might get a number that's hooked up to the network. If your chum is offline but has turned on call forwarding you can reach them when they're away from their PC. Call Forwarding : You can receive your calls when you're offline and direct inward bound calls to ring on your mobile or telephone. Long Distance Calling : With this feature, you can call long distance to several states. Ask VoIP suppliers about how they cope with taken routers and whether or not they can be disabled remotely to keep your account info safe and untouched.

Never select a service that can't guarantee security of your private info. For extra security, is it really possible to make calls thru the VPN? Nevertheless keeping all info within VPNs comprises further hardware and software costs. Is the VoIP Service exposed to Scammers and impersonators? Fraudsters can hijack calls and pretend to be buyer service delegates to gather personal account info. Medium and large firms which will benefit in hosted IP telephony and VOIP service are also certain to surge. A personal local telephone structure also employs Web Custom ( IP ) to furnish telephone service within a grounds or group of corporations in a tiny local area. Hosted Telephony, IP Centrex, managed IP PBXs and network-based voice service are all possible options. IPBX systems are usually an area network ( LAN ) systems that interconnect IP telephones. IP Centrex : Centrex is a service supplied by many local telephone service providers which will enable the customer to have traits that are routinely related with a personal branch exchange ( PBX ).

Hosted VOIP is a cost efficient choice to standard, PBX telephone systems. Prevailing and easy to use, and significantly less expensive than on site PBX solutions and offer bigger adaptability. Providing the proper features for your company demands is definitely critical. A Hosted VOIP solution has many state of the art features like, car attendants, follow-me routing, voicemail, voicemail to e-mail, forwarding, external IP telephones, and so on. The call costs for outside network calls are also low. Texts : You can type your text using your keyboard and send the message thru your 'VoIP ' network, showing your own mobile number.

Private Online Number : This feature is extraordinarily handy if you have pals and family who don't use the same network. They can call you from their land-line or mobile and only pay their standard call rates. Though this could cost around $20 a month more than your current dial-up service, you'll more than make up the difference after you subscribe to VoIP service and disconnect your land line telephone. An additional benefit is that you are going to be well placed to surf the web at fast while chatting on the telephone at the exact same time! VoIP feels and looks just like regular 'land line' service. The single thing different that you can notice is additional cash in your pocket! When your VoIP adapter arrives, follow the simple instructions to connect it to your broadband modem / router as well as regards your telefone and PC. You could need a torch to see all of the connection ports, particularly if your PC and modem are found beneath a desk ( as mine is ). There aren't any tools needed, and there isn't any software to install. After the wire connections are made, dial the special 'activation' telephone number that came with your VoIP adapter.

Ask VoIP suppliers about how they cope with robbed routers and whether or not they can be disabled remotely to keep your account info safe and untouched. If you want to keep your telephone conversations personal even from the telephone company, select a service supplier who lets you call thru virtual private networks. Never choose a service that can't guarantee security of your secret info. Nonetheless keeping all information inside VPNs comprises extra hardware and software costs. Is the VoIP Service exposed to Scammers and impersonators? Conmen can hijack calls and pretend to be consumer service delegates to gather private account information.
