Though i don't have a real life PBX as it's unrealistic for home use, nor multiple phone lines, will the voice gateway allow me to use an IP phone/ create other extension to other phones (in theory).. dial 9 our.. get the drift. I can't afford the Cisco CallManager hardware in my dreams but I know there are IOS Command line that can do similar. I'm hoping the VG200 will allow all this without the need for Asterik or even work in conjunction. Though I'd like to go the CCVP way of business... All I want is to hook up a phone line in the VIC on the Voice Gateway then do the proper configs in between (if possible as my question poses) to get a dial-tone on a Cisco IP phone then be using VOIP.

Thanks for your help! =)

Oh yea, bonus question, are there a Windows version of CallManager or is that pretty much just hardware?

I know this sounds kind of boring and all not having a PBX (down the road) but this is for simple home use. I have a Cisco 2621XM w/ Call Manager Express, a Voice Gateway 200 w a 2 VIC 2FX card, and a 7906G VOIP IP Phone. All I (boringly) want to do is plug in a phone line into the VG200, run it through the 2621 w/ Call Manager Express, and ring ring. Sounds simple, over complicated for a basic phone line but there is a bit more to it down the road. Is this relatively easy to do? Also, how is licensing handled? Always the fun buster... Thanks!

My friend brought his Xbox 360 over and we attempted to connect to LIVE. After rearranging the Ethernet cables 5 times, we finally got it to connect. However, a single problem was keeping us from continuing. It would connect, successfully obtain the IP and almost be finished before the Gateway couldn't be acquired. After spending 20 minutes with the automated voice for LIVE support, we lost patience and checked the net, no luck there either. What is the gateway and can we manually set this to override the auto fail?

Ok so December 12 2008 Com-cast came over to install "Digital Phone & Voice" its suppose to be this awesome great thing...so far its been shit connecting to internet. The phone is working great and my desktop computer works fine but slower then normal, the problem is the internet wont seem to hook up to work with my IBM laptop everything is hooked up to a D-Link for those that don't know it splits the the Ethernet net jack for multi jacks 4 to be specific. so anyway..when i hook it up to the laptop it shows that its trying to connect but then it stops after 1 or 2 mins and show the icon for limited or no connection after i saw this i went to the cmd and brought up the property's for the IP and what popped up was (for security purposes im not going to reveal any of the real ip numbers or anything that could compromise my computer)
Connection-specific DNS Suffix.:
Autoconfiguration IP Adress...:156.212.123.44
Subnet Mask.........................:233.233.0.0
Default Gateway.....................:
and then when i bring up my desktops config it shows everything filled.
can anyone help?
thanks
