My relative is saying that you have to pay to talk on the iphone before even getting a voip installed on your iphone is this true?
I thought there was a way around it so you could just get a calling plan like say vonage for example (9.99 added to get your softphone) is it possible to run that without having to buy minutes for your phone itself?
Basically he is saying he cannot use the voip service without paying at&t or whatever else minutes – can’t you use a different voip provider or is it that even with any provider you have to pay a tariff like this one site says?
It would seem total bull crap to me to use such a system if one cannot even get a low monthly rate that is feasible.

If you want to be able to make calls ANYWHERE, you have to pay for the ATT service, even if you use a VOIP app (but you won’t use up minutes so you can get the cheaper plan).
