I don't understand whether Jabber or Google Talk provide free VoiP or not. What exactly do they provide in terms of VoiP (not interested in text msgs)

On December 15, 2005, Google released libjingle, a C++ library to implement Jingle, "a set of extensions to the IETF's Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol (XMPP) for use in voice over IP (VoIP), video, and other peer-to-peer multimedia sessions.
...so what does that mean, what does Google (of Jabber) provide in terms of (free or not) VoiP?
also, what's the deal with the Gizmo Project. are they free?

Jabber is merely a protocol for text chat (not your interest)...
Google Talk on the other hand is a voice chat application program, much like Yahoo Messenger, that provides free calls to other GTalk clients (or at least with clients that are compatible with GTalk ). It uses the Google's open source libjingle library (http://code.google.com/apis/talk/index.html) to provide the VoIP features.
