voice over ip, voip providers,

Help with my home network (linksys router, network printer, wireless laptop, voip, wired Windows server)?

by admin on May 2, 2009

I want to have fixed ip addresses for the VOIP and the network printer. I setup static DNS addresses for three devices (server, printer, VOIP) and things seemed to be fine. That said, when the lease time expired the devices took different addresses and my whole network was a mess. Is there a way to make lease time infinite? Am I approaching this wrong (my logic off)?
Note: Static ips were outside DHCP range.

You set the static IP address on the device, not on the DHCP server. (Setting pseudo-static IP addresses in the DHCP server isn't the right way to do it, if your router allows that.)
