I just got a Thomson speedtouch ST284 SIP Phone from my friend and i couldnt login to the web based configuration page since password is incorrect. I've tried using default username and password but no luck 
there is no hard reset button for me to poke so if any one could help me on how to reset the password I would really appreciate that.

According to the User Guide, you can only do a Factory Reset after logging into the phone web admin page.

You need to ask your friend that gave you the phone what the Admin PW is.
