voice over ip, voip providers,

How does the VoIP technology work ?

by admin on May 2, 2009

Usually to make clear calls we need a fixed assigned/dedicated bandwidth so circuit switching technology(FDM,TDM) is used.
Packet switching is only used only when the required bandwidth is not guaranteed like to data communications. However, IP is based on packet switching if Im not wrong.

So how can something like voice, which requires timely fast delivery with quality, be transmitted over the Internet protocol?

Wont certain packets follow different routes and then it should take extra time at the receiver end to reorder them?

Plz clarify :)

as long as you are on broadband

you are talking about fractions of a second

Either way streaming at a bit rate of anything more than like 128k you won’t audibly notice that much.

Sounds like you just started reading about protocols and just went wtF? because you are starting to try to factor in things that don’t really have an influence at all.

Just take it on the fact that with broadband it works ….don’t need to know why just does
