VoIP stands for Voice Over Internet Protocol

You need the Internet to make calls (or receive them). It is in your best interest to get a data plan where you can get unlimited Internet.

However if your area does NOT provide unlimited Internet then you need to select a plan to meet your needs.

VoIP phone's don't use much bandwidth. 100 to 200MB per month would be ideal (with http://www.shaggytalk.com) if you use it a lot.
