It depends, if you have broadband, and have enough technical know how to wire Voip, don't use a rtary dial phone, and live in single family residence, then Voip is a good fit. If you live in an appartment/condo you can still use Voip but you vould only use it on one phone. This is because on the side of a house/ appartment building (only found in smaller units large highrise and midrise buildings have it in the basement) the is a box usually located nearby your gas meter. This box is clearly labeled Telephone, If open it up there are several short telephone cords that plug into phone jacks opposite them in the box. In order to use a Voip service on more then one telephone you must unplug all the phone cords in this box. It is possible, but very complicated to use voip and a traditonal tekephone provider in the same building with out seriously damaging the phone equipment inside. That box represents the legal demarkation point of the local phone companies wireing and your wiring inside your house (onceagain if you live in an appartment/condo this is the landlords wriring not your and disconnecting it could get you in trouble). After you have disconnected it wrap the end of each phone cord in the box with a piect of electrial tape.Because phone lines are wired in Parallel any phone jack in your house can be broadcasting a dial tone. The Voip router you get from the provider is setup like any other router, execpt it has 2 phone jacks. Don't worry about jack 2. to get your phone service up and running connect phone jack 1 to a telephone jack on the wall. After you've regester your service on the companies website (you should of done this before hooking anything up) you'll have your phone service back up in a matter of minutes. Also, don't cancel your old provider if you intend to keep your same phone nummber, theres a form you have to fill out and send to the Voip provider along with an old phone bill inorder to get the number transfered, after this is cmpleted your old account will automatically be deleted.

Personally I like Voip.
