Does anyone subscribing to a home voip phone service have trouble with incoming calls going direct to voicemail and not ringing in the home? I use tmobile@home service and get alot of complaints from callers who get my voicemail directly and the phone doesnt ring sometimes. What can cause this( in simple terms please)? Thanks

If your phone normally rings, but occasionally does not and goes directly to voicemail, then the typical reasons are:
1. Your VoIP box isn't maintaining registration with the VoIP service. Any time registration is lost with the VoIP server, then by default all calls will go to voicemail.
2. Your Internet connection goes down. In which case, your VoIP box still can't retain VoiP server registration and calls will be redirected to voicemail.
3. Check your VoIP account online settings. Just verify that it is not set to always go to voicemail and only set to go to voicemail after 4 or 5 rings (or 30-40 seconds of ringing).
Monitor your VoIP box LED lights. If the lights are not always lit, then that is an indication you may be periodically losing registration, in which case you won't get ringing and calls will go to voicemail when calls can't be delivered to the VoIP box. Loss of registration is either a technical problem with your network setup and VoIP equipment, or due to loss of Internet service. If the problem is with your VoIP box, contact your VoIP provider. If it is an Internet problem, contact your ISP.
