voice over ip, voip providers,

What Exactly Is a CTI Port in Cisco Call Manager 6.0?

May 1, 2009

I am a datat guy getiing into VOIP. So please don't be Voice brutal. I am trying to understand why and what you could use a CTI port for.

Also, can you use the intercom feature for paging? And if so, does it have to barge?

CTI = Computer Telephony Integration.

A CTI port is used to allow CCM (usually) to communicate to third-party software applications. For example a third party softphone application.

For intercom paging (I'm assuming overhead paging here) use the SA-Announce feature. It has lots of functionality including security to paging groups.

Hope this helps,
