Please provide a brief overview of what the purpose of a SIP gateway is, and how it can be used.
Yes that's pretty brief! What I want to understand is - I presume it's bidirectional? It also routes voice back to a SIP server. And the phone it connects to - what sort of phone can be used?

A SIP gateway accepts SIP traffic and routes it to phones. Is that brief enough?
