SIP = Session Initiated Protocol; some are compatible with Skype. Looks like you can get cheap/free phone calls using SIPDiscount (http://www.sipdiscount.com/en/index.html). Just have to load up 10 Euros (about $12 USD) and you can make unlimited calls for 120 days to the list of countries. Other countries are charged at other rates. Looks like a great deal.
