AT&T now offers a VOIP solution called CallVantage. You may want to check it out.
I've recently switched over to CallVantage after using another VOIP service for nearly three years. I switched companies because I feared a possible loss of service when previous provider faced injunctions because of patent infringement. Hopefully AT&T won't have this kind of problems.
CallVantage has been very good so far.
