Since a voip terminal is just another network device (like the PC you are typing on) all it is sending is packets. Many of the terminals used for credit card processing are analog devices, you know modem. If the credit card terminal were a packet device it would work.
There I have just given you a multi-million dollar idea. Who is to say, and someone is, you can't develop a packet credit card processing terminal. GOOD LUCK
