With the Voip Technology Why No Free Service to the Caribbean?

Well, you might be able to. Many voip internet phone service providers offer free calls between members, anywhere in the world, so if you're calling someone who has the same provider as you, chances are the call will be free.

As for free calls in general...telecommunication in the Caribbean is complicated--it isn't a country, it's an array of something like 7,000 islands that are broken up into 28 territories--some are dependencies, while others are sovereign states.

Governments and business are pushing to bring reliable phone service everywhere in the Caribbean region, but there's still a long way to go. Populations are spread out over a large area, which makes it harder for telecom companies to justify the expense of widespread infrastructure buildouts.

In the meantime, voip providers can often offer much cheaper rates to specific locations in the Caribbean than traditional phone companies.
